The Mic is always on...

When I first took media class in high school with Mr. Clark, he taught us a variety of items when it came to broadcasting, but the one that he repeated over and over and OVER again was..."the mic is always on."

In other words, when you have a microphone in your hand, or attached to your lapel, you have to THINK you are always LIVE...

We've seen journalists get fouled up before by not thinking about what they're saying while they're in the anchor chair. Former KCRA anchor Stan Atkinson managed to call Sen. Boxer a "bitch" on the air,

now, the latest incident comes right here in NYC...where WNBC's Sue Simmons, a broadcasting legend here in the Big Apple, managed to utter the deadliest of the 7 deadly words...

The backstory is it was in the middle of a live tease, and she wasn't pleased that her partner Chuck Scarborough was not paying attention...

what follows is her outburst, and then her "apology" moments later...

Broadcasters....you gotta love 'em....

Remember folks, as Mr. Clark would say, "the mic is always on"

(He also used to say, "Chew gum, lose 10 points" But I digress)

Mike
